What?s in a Name?

The NASCAR iRacing.com Class A Series stormed into Long Pond, Pennsylvania for a visit to the “Tricky Triangle” this past week. Pocono Raceway lived up to its nickname — and more — as a flurry of drivers proved they could not handle the challenges posed by the unique three-cornered speedway . The yellow silk was by far the most popular flag in the Poconos during the online racing action in Week Five. Early cautions were the theme all week, with even some of the top drivers having trouble handling the three vastly different corners. Jim Caudill Jr. has stamped his name at the top of the NiCAS standings the last few weeks, and he did it again at Pocono. His 278 points beat-out second place PJ Stergios by three and [...]

Ogier loses ground in Rankings

Sebastien Ogier's late mistake while leading Rally Mexico was not only a major blow to his World Rally Championship aspirations, but also hit his standing in the Castrol EDGE Rankings. Had he hung on and taken his first win of 2011, Ogier was set to surge into the top 15 in the Castrol EDGE Rankings, but instead he slipped four places to 23rd. Ogier's crash handed victory to Sebastien Loeb, and this meant the reigning WRC champion hung on to his third place in the Castrol EDGE Rankings - which he stood to lose to Fernando Alonso had he failed to continue his Mexico winning streak.

The Australian says that while testing form remains difficult to predict, he expected Ferrari to be challenging at the front in Australia. "I think Ferrari is strong.

Whitmarsh: Don?t write McLaren off yet

McLaren team principal Martin Whitmarsh believes it too early to write off his outfit's title challenge for 2011 - despite the struggles the team has faced in testing so far. Jenson Button said earlier this week that he thinks McLaren cannot challenge Red Bull Racing and Ferrari at the start of the season, while Lewis Hamilton thinks the MP4-26 is not a title-winner in its current guise

MacDowall keeps RML Chevy seat

Alex MacDowall will stay on alongside champion Jason Plato in RML's Chevrolet British Touring Car Championship line-up. The 20-year-old Briton became the series' youngest-ever polesitter last year during his rookie campaign, and also took two podium finishes on the way to 11th in the final standings. "It's fantastic to be staying with RML for my second year in touring cars, I can't wait to get back behind the wheel of the Cruze and begin preparations for the new season", said MacDowall
