Hunt hits out as Lotus case begins

The Lotus naming row has taken a new twist on the day when the court case between Tony Fernandes' Team Lotus and Proton-owned Group Lotus commences. David Hunt, who Fernandes acquired the Team Lotus naming rights from when Group Lotus withdrew the squad's licence to run as Lotus Racing, has now hit out at Fernandes and revealed a disagreement over the terms of their deal. He had previously been a strong supporter of the second-year squad's right to use the Lotus title in Formula 1.

Karthikeyan reveals qualifying concerns

New HRT signing Narain Karthikeyan has admitted that he has concerns over HRT's ability to qualify for the Australian Grand Prix after the team's new F111 contender did not turn a wheel during winter testing. The new car was unveiled during the final pre-season test at Barcelona but did not actually run, meaning that the Indian - who returns to Formula 1 for the first time since 2004 - and his team-mate Vitantonio Liuzzi have six hours running time between them on Friday to sort out any new-car niggles with the chassis

Eyes on the Street: Gabbing on Garfield Street, After the Parade

Thought you might enjoy this street scene from Garfield Place yesterday afternoon, sent by reader Jeff Prant. The Park Slope St. Patrick’s Day Parade had passed through earlier in the day, leaving in its wake some neighborly conversation. I’m guessing Donald Appleyard would have liked this picture.

Terol untouchable in 125cc opener

Nico Terol underlined his 125cc title favourite status with a crushing win in the season-opener in Qatar. The rest of the field barely saw the Aspar Aprilia rider, as having been fastest in every practice session and qualifying, Terol broke away from the pack at the start and pulled away at a second per lap early on. His lead got as high as 13 seconds at one stage, before he eased off to cruise home with a seven-second cushion.
