No chance of victory, says Lorenzo

MotoGP world champion Jorge Lorenzo has resigned himself to fighting for a podium finish at best in tomorrow's Aragon Grand Prix after struggling to fourth on the grid. Yamaha has been unable to match the Hondas' pace at the Spanish track, and although Lorenzo and team-mate Ben Spies managed fourth and third respectively in qualifying, they were left breathless by first and second-place starters Casey Stoner and Dani Pedrosa's Hondas. Lorenzo had got his title challenge back on track by winning at Misano a fortnight ago, but was downcast about Yamaha's chances in tomorrow's race.

Aston wins as Dyson takes title

Stefan Mucke, Adrian Fernandez and Harold Primat gave Aston Martin Racing a boost in what has been a miserable season by winning the American Le Mans Series' six-hour race at Laguna Seca. Dyson Racing's Chris Dyson and Guy Smith clinched the LMP1 title with second place, despite some late dramas for their co-driver Jay Cochran looking like they might delay the championship celebration.

Abraham expects to be fit for Japan

Karel Abraham is optimistic that he will be fit to race in the Japanese Grand Prix after his violent crash at the start of the Aragon MotoGP race yesterday. The Czech rider was kept in hospital in Alcaniz overnight for observation after sustaining concussion in the first-corner crash, during which he first struck his head on the ground as he fell, and was then also hit on the helmet by the wheel of his Cardion AB Ducati as he tumbled through the run-off. He has now left hospital to return home to the Czech Republic, where he will have more medical checks before his participation in the Motegi round in a fortnight can be confirmed.

Rossi ready to review riding position

Valentino Rossi thinks that adjusting his riding position might be one of the next avenues for Ducati to explore as it strives to get its bike on the pace. The seven-time MotoGP champion has only one podium to show for his maiden Ducati season so far, despite a string of major changes to the bike including bringing forward the 2012 chassis and switching to a part-aluminium frame at Aragon last weekend. The latter change was inconclusive, with Rossi feeling the bike had improved slightly, but only able to finish 10th in the race amid tyre issues and following a pitlane start.
