Vatanen to undergo surgery

Former World Rally champion Ari Vatanen will be airlifted to hospital in Marseille for an operation on his neck following his crash on the Tour de Corse on Friday, but the Finn is expected to make a full recovery. Vatanen crashed the Peugeot 207 RC he was driving as course car on this weekend's round of the Intercontinental Rally Challenge on the sixth stage.

Korjus wins race 1 at Monza

Tech 1 Racing's Kevin Korjus won his second Formula Renault 3.5 race of the season in a manic encounter at Monza. After an aggressive start in which he passed front-row man Robert Wickens around the outside of the first chicane, Korjus took advantage of a small mistake from pole-sitter Cesar Ramos to take the lead on lap five. Pressure from Carlin's Robert Wickens led to Korjus out-braking himself and taking to the escape road at Turn 1 on lap 18

Hexis Aston triumphs in Germany

Christian Hohenadel and Andrea Piccini won the main event at the Sachsenring round of the FIA GT1 World Championship for the French Hexis Aston Martin team. Hohenadal took the lead of the championship race on lap 10 from fellow Aston driver Stefan Mucke in the best of the Young Driver AMR entries and extended his lead to 3.3 seconds by the time he pitted. Piccini emerged from the pitstop sequence in the middle of the race with a six-second lead that never came under threat.
