Dixon stays on top at Kentucky

Scott Dixon kept up his early momentum at Kentucky by topping an ultra-close second session, while there was again little to separate title rivals Dario Franchitti and Will Power. The 2009 polesitter rose to the top of the timesheets with 15 minutes remaining and was never displaced, as several yellow flags for track debris disrupted the momentum of the session. Ryan Hunter-Reay (Andretti) moved into second in the final two minutes, following the third and final yellow flag break.

?Buzzing? Cudlin hopes to close gap

Damian Cudlin says his aim for his first MotoGP weekend is just to keep chipping away at the gap to the regular riders. The Australian, who currently races in Germany's IDM Supersport series, was a surprise choice to sit in for the injured Loris Capirossi at Pramac Ducati for this weekend's Japanese Grand Prix. Despite being totally unfamiliar with MotoGP machinery and having never tried the Motegi track before, Cudlin got down to within 4.5 seconds of pacesetter Dani Pedrosa in practice today.
